MY ANSWERS:
1. Yes, I think she was virgin before the scene with Jack in the car because Old Rose said that the scene where she was drawn naked in her statesroom by Jack was the most erotic experience in her life yet at the time, this obviously came before the car scene, and I’d assume sex is considered more erotic than being drawn naked.
2. I think she is a character with attitude, and a “fire” within her which Jack loves so much – she does not like being a conformist, even though she lived in a VERY restricted society. She is irrational as well, instead she chooses to follow – and TRUST – her heart – “I know, it doesn’t make any sense does it? But that’s why I trust it.” Generally I think she is a strong, sensitive character who did not enjoy her spoiled, rich girl lifestyle filled with restrictions, symbolised by her Edwardian corset. After she gets off Titanic, she continues through the 10’s and in the 1920’s she sheds her corsets and becomes a free bird who does what she wants to do. She is a character which values recklessness and what the heart feels.
3. I have already stated her positive points – she is a character which values freedom and is non-conformist. She is a bit of a rebel considering her position within society, and everyone loves a rebel. She has attitude, and she does what SHE wants to do, she believes in what SHE believes in. She is fun-loving and she also demonstrates how she discriminates far less than others within her social standing, other members of the elite of society.
4. Her character, however, is not without it’s flaws. She demonstrates how sensitive she is, which is not necessarily a good thing, when she attempts suicide. Due to the way she was brought up, she IS a bit spoilt and is sensitive and easily upset – ironically by the environment which brought about this personality trait. Irrationality shows that she has attitude and wants to follow the heart instead of reason, but this is also a negative point. She can also be a bit aggressive and stubborn, not very but a little, again probably due to the way she was brought up.
5. I think in the 1920’s, a time when womens’ freedom and lifestyle dramatically changed, she would have led a lifestyle of fun, perhaps enjoying the jazz and possibly even drinking illegally as it was the Prohibition era. I can imagine she bobbed her hair and wore short dresses and skirts revealing her legs and arms, and possibly wore kohl. She obviously became an actress, as stated in the film, and this demonstrates her willingness to move along with the progression of society – for a more open-minded world.

I have a weird problem: I can write erotic fiction, but I can’t have sex myself.
I have been writing erotic fiction for years now, mainly first time passionate encounters (but not first time sex) ad have been told by many people online, judges in writing competitions, teachers, friends etc that I have a talent of writing fiction, erotic in particular. Because I have been brought up in a household where sex was not totally taboo, and my parents answered my curiosity with age-appropriate answers (so when I asked, age 5, where babies came from, my mother would say that when the mother and father love each other very much, they would make a baby and it would grow int he mother’s tummy. None of the cabbage leaf or stork stuff), I have never been embarrassed about talking about sex or watching videos in sex ed. I have always been able to, and still can, have frank and open discussions about it without giggling when someone says ‘penis’ or whatever. But, despite all this, I find that when I am in any kind of sexual situation, the act is too excruciatingly embarrassing to complete.
I am not embarrassed to talk about it, to write it or to read it myself, but I cannot put the fundamentals of what I write into practice. I don’t know why this is: I knew I was ready to have sex, and I have attempted it but as yet I have found it too awkward and embarrassing to actually lose my virginity. I have ‘fooled about’ and I can pleasure myself, but even the thought of a partner there makes me cringe. I know that some of it comes from the fact that I haven’t been with an experienced guy, and he was incredibly naive, so I felt embarrassed about him positioning himself wrong, thrusting upwards (painfully) and then saying ‘is it in yet’. It felt like I had to instruct him on how to do it, as well as concentrate on what I was doing. But I don’t know where the rest of my embarrassment comes from. The worst thing, is that I crave the fulfillment of a man inside me. I am not currently in a relationship, and do not plan on joining the ‘one night stand’ trend of people my age.
