Finding A Increasing Exponential Equation?

By admin Posted in: 69

Is there a website or a link someone can post or a formula for finding an increasing exponential equation using certain points? I would like to make one that includes that points (3,650) and (69,900) and also around (30,750). Any Help is appreciated, thanks.

You can plot them in a TI-84 Plus (at least that’s the one i have—or I’m sure you can also use some other graphing calculator that you have). well on my TI 84 Plus, here are the steps to get the equation:
    1. Put in the points in L1 and L2 by pressing Stat to goto list–choose number 1 or press enter on edit. Put in x values for L1 and y values for L2.
    2. Then press 2nd Y= to goto Stat Plot. Press 1. Then turn the plot ON by pressing enter on “ON.” use arrow down key to choose the graph type and select the graph that has separate points on it by clicking enter. Make sure the xlist is L1 and the ylist is L2. Choose the square for Mark.
    3. Click Graph and then click ZOOM. Choose ZoomStat or press number 9. Click on Graph again and you should be able to see all three points on graph.
    4. Click 2nd quit to go back to normal calculator menu. Then press STAT, go to the right which says CALC by using right arrow key. Then go down to ExpReg or press number 0. this should bring you back to main screen again. Then press 2nd 1 to get L1 after the ExpReg…then press the comma key above number 7. Then press 2nd 2 to get L2 after the comma…then press comma key again. Then press VARS button, which is about 2 buttons above number 9. Go to the right which says Y-VARS by using right arrow key. Press number 1 to get to FUNCTION, and then press number 1 again. This should bring you back to main screen again.
    5. After all that, you can press ENTER and there should be ExpReg, y=a*b^x, a=642.9846931, and b=1.004924612 on your screen now.
    6. Click GRAPH and the line should go through all your 3 points. If you want the equation, you can press Y= and your equation should be in y1*.
I know the steps are kinda long…but this is to the best of my ability. Hope this helps if you do have a TI-84 Plus graphing calculator.
*The equation you should get is y=642.98469306835*1.0049246115037^x
///Notice how these numbers are from the menu screen of step number 5 for a and b. They already gave you the equation setup and the values of a and b, you just need to plug them in.
