SO here’s the situation:
I’ve been having weird periods for about a year now, but I think I finally figured out what went wrong and it was an elementary mistake. I was wanting SO BAD to have the “mythical” 28 day cycle and I was guessing that I was ovulating 14 days after I started my period so we would usually try to have sex around that time as frequently as possible, even though sometimes we’d have a 4 to 5 day spell with no sex. (I know, not good for baby-making!)
But my last period started the 22nd of March and I was off and on tracking my cervical position/mucus and I noticed that it was STILL cloudy at day 14 of my cycle and so on so I kinda gave up (note this was like the 4th of April).
We didn’t have sex that weekend so it was kinda frustrating but I remember the next weekend-week we wound up having sex a few times sporadically (the 10th through the 13th) and we also had sporadic sex over the weekend after that (the 17th through 20th).
And I got to thinking about patterns in my cycle the last couple weeks and I noticed that my cycles tend to be 6 weeks long so I predicted that my period would come on the 3rd and it arrived on the 4th!
SO I was thinking WOW I’ve got something! I noticed that even though I thought I missed my ovulation I might’ve accidentally had sex while I was ovulating (a few times)! And I might be pregnant, but even if not, I now know to look for ovulation durning cycle days 20-25. How cool is that?!
So on the 4th my period seemed REALLY light but I thought “oh it’s just the first day” but it’s been light the past 3 days. The 3rd and 4th days of my period are usually my heaviest and I usually need Super tampons but I accidentally bought Regular on impulse a few weeks ago and those are STILL too much for this period (Yet ANOTHER happy mistake? Am I on a roll or what?)! I’m talking light spotting like not even the amount of blood from a bad nic while shaving! (My mom went through this with me and my 2 sisters. For the first 3 months of being pregnant with each of us she had really short, light periods when her usual was always heavy and 7-8 days) And on top of that the past few days I’ve been nauseous and had weird headaches which isn’t usual for my cycles, either. Also, I just got my first case of non-infectious vaginitis, ever and I’ve read that that can be from the hormones pregnancy produces. Is that right? Either way, that’s a new thing as well!
So I looked online and found an ovulation/due date tracker that said I probably ovulated anywhere from the 18th to the 20th and If I’m pregnant I should be almost 5 weeks. But I want to wait to test until the 5 and a half week mark just in case I have my hopes up, but if it says no I still know when I should ovulate so yayyyy!
So… Pray for the BFP and Share your experiences and tell me what you think! Thanks in advance!
I know it’s a repost from earlier and I know it’s long, but last time I didn’t get many answers ![]()

Well, I had been off birth control for a year and a half in March. I got married in August of 2008 then stopped just to let nature take its course. We weren’t really “trying” to get pregnant, but not preventing it either. So once I got to 6 months and not pregnant it started bothering me, so I started counting days and every month my period showed up. Saw my gynecologist in Sept of last year. She told me that once birth control is stopped about 60 percent of couples are pregnant within a year after and within two years about 85-90 percent are pregnant. But she told me to see her in 6 months and they would make sure I didn’t have any scar tissue or internal issues preventing me to become pregnant. So come February I set up an appointment to actually get back on birth control and to do the test she recommended. A week after my best friend died and two weeks after that my dad in law had a horrible car accident and a week after that my cousin was busted by the SWAT team, so needless to say that whole month I was definitely not counting days, but we still did the baby dance. Lol. My period is sporadic as well. I got to March 25th and it had been 28 days. My appointment for birth control was the next week. We had a big party to go to that weekend in honor of my friend who had passed for his would have been birthday and something told me to take a test. I wasn’t even late. It was just one day past 28 days and it popped up positive. I took 5 tests, all positive. Could not believe it! And some of my symptoms since you may wonder was that about 14 days after the start of my period I had what is called egg white cervical mucus which usually indicates ovulation. Then two days later I had it again, normally it only happens once. I thought that was weird, but didn’t worry with it. My tatas also starting hurting that same day and I became very irritable and tired. So basically all this was to make one point, pregnancy just happens. It hardly ever happens when you want it to or expect it to. All those months of me counting and charting and then I totally forget about it due to extenuating circumstances and I get pregnant. Lol. So, if you feel you are pregnant, take a test. I found that if I stressed about waiting to test it always made my period come later due to my body being stressed so I just started to test any day after day 28. Sorry it is sooo long, but that is my experience with trying, stress, counting, etc.
Good luck and hope you get your BFP!!! Dont lose hope. Just takes longer for some couples. Took us a year and a half.
